Atomheart was inspired by the Sci-Fi design universe, where everything is possible and nothing is inconceivable. The lamp itself is a fantasy of the classic presentation of the atom, where the paths of the particles form concentric lines around the nucleus, and together sketch out a dynamic spherical body. Atomheart is finished in hand-blown, acid frosted opal glass and was designed by Morten Voss.
It's a great loss not to have the creative influence of an album cover today. In their heyday it could be the making or breaking of an album. @isingmag was fascinated to hear a lecture @vamuseum from Aubrey 'Po' Powell, photographer for the 60-80s iconic album cover design company Hipgnosis. He gave a brief history on the evolution of the album cover, and then spoke about the creative processes and inspirations behind @pinkfloyd's most famous album covers. Including #darksideofthemoon, #atomheart#wishyouwerehere and #animals. Enjoyed the story about the flying pig that stopped Heathrow air traffic for a few hours. #nowthatsrocknroll. See the Pink Floyd - Their Mortal Remains exhibition at the V&A till October 15th.
