This week Elke progressed from RDL to trap bar deadlift, still focusing on lowering the weight slowly to increase eccentric strength and therefore reduce the chance of injury and increase muscle mass. The trap bar deadlift is a great exercise that can completely remove the eccentric component by dropping the bar, or emphasise it by lowering the weight slowly (shown here). Both have their benefits, it just depends on the needs of the athlete.

Cues
-Draw your stomach inwards, away from the waist band, whilst performing.
- maintain the contraction low (much like a kegel).
- extended the leg out and lower all the way (just above the ground)
