In order to train for maximum power you need to be able to accelerate the load you are moving. The absolute best way to do that is to RELEASE whatever you are moving!! Without having to subconsciously begin the deceleration of the arm before it has fully accelerated (as you would if you maintained a grip on the bar in this land mine press), your true power capability can be expressed. This is exactly the reason why heavy medicine ball training will always have a place in a true athletes workout regimen. Let it fly and let the gains begin!
