“You expected to be sad in the fall. Part of you died each year when the leaves fell from the trees and their branches were bare against the wind and the cold, wintery light.” - Ernest Hemingway

🏐 All eyes on me at that moment.
I miss the pressure, the chaos, the chants, weekend tournaments, everything.

Evening light through leaves.
Home, after a long day to London. Very odd to travel into a city quietly and calmly going about its business with the counterpoint of social media discussing Manchester. Those poor families. Giving my little ones an extra hug tonight.

Im a little obsessed with writing by the sea. Wrapping up warm, wearing my fluffy hat and scarf, and finding a place to reflect on the day ahead. This place fit the bill perfectly. Sadly I’m running out of journal-by-the-sea images so i think this one might be the last for a while. Better plan my next trip!

"Let all things now living
a song of thanksgiving
to God the Creator triumphantly raise,
who fashioned and made us,
protected and stayed us,
who guides us and leads to the end of our days.
His banners are o’er us,
his light goes before us,
a pillar of fire shining forth in the night,
till shadows have vanished
and darkness is banished,
as forward we travel from light into light." -K Davis

A writing day with a print deadline first thing. Hoping that in a few hours, all those wild strands will be grasped loosely together

A beautiful walk around the tranquil lake at Bath Spa University. A perfect spot for reading a book or reflecting on life.

I can’t go to the beach without a bit of beach combing. I loved the driftwood and the oyster shells and would like to have taken them home if I could. I’d also like to take the smells of the sea home, but that’s a little different. Again, I’m drawn to the grey tones in this image.

I love the grey tones of the sea on a wintery day. When I look at my feed, I’m particularly drawn to the grey images I took on Lake Windermere a few weeks ago. Although the bright blue sky is stunning to look at, and I love my autumnal shots, it’s the grey ones I like to spend time reflecting on.

After my coffee I had another lovely walk along the beach. It was wintery and cold but I quite like the feeling of being windswept and open to the elements. Sadly I lost yet another pen whilst walking that day so this is my eulogy to my favourite @lamy_official fountain pen ☹️☹️

A lovely cup of coffee in ‘Tea and Times’, Whitstable. Filled with local art, second hand books and quirky corners, it’s a perfect place for an introvert to have a quiet coffee. Also pictured is a handmade bag I bought in my colours! Just the right size for little outings with my journal.

I always love a good beach hut. Looking out to the sea, slightly battered by the weather and looking forward to the sunshine. A good analogy for life!

I love my DM’s. They bring me such joy when I look down at my feet. I had a bracing walk along the beach and thought it would be fun to take a ‘foot picture’ as I’ve never posted one on Instagram before. It’s fun to try new things every day so here I am!

Last weekend, we went to @osterleyhousent for the Pumpkin Festival. It was an unexpectedly sunny day, and it was lovely to walk with Edward around the woodland trail – building dens, jumping on hay bales, toasting marshmallow, and carving a little pumpkin to take home with us. Grandad did the carving, but Edward was a very engaged creative director.

I also managed to visit the gift shop for the first time. There were so many beautiful things, and I couldn’t resist picking up a couple of baubles from the new Winter Twilight collection – a gorgeous new range inspired by winter’s serene beauty. The one in the foreground is filled with luxury vanilla fudge (which I haven’t tried yet – I am saving it until Christmas), while the one in the background has a delicately pretty wreath pattern painted on it. I also fell in love with some of the kitchen items from this range, especially the apron which makes me want to start baking Christmas gingerbread.

The whole collection is also available at the National Trust online shop, and I’ve managed to get a 10 per cent off discount for my followers. Just use MINAW2017 at the checkout (terms and conditions apply). Everything you buy from the National Trust, whether online or at one of their properties, helps to support their work in protecting special places forever, for everyone.

This apple pie was a slice of heaven. Long live sugar and spice and everything nice 🥧

I slept on a boat ✌️

'Georgia walked home, a strengthened and lightened woman, not the least in love, favoured by the universe.' Alice Munro.' . Happy Sunday! This is turning out to be a busy month for me what with the official launch of my novel next Thursday, work to do for my MA in creative writing, work to do on the new book, and still, the day job... I hope I will get some time to relax and read today. Reading widely is so important for a writer. I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday whatever you're up to. 🍁

Writing by the sea. What could be better?

Such a peaceful spot to sit and write. The gentle lapping of the waves and the sound of the wind whistling around you. Amazing.

I love emojis because they fill the holes where my verbal skills should be so here: 🌸🌼🌺

Hello Europe, I’ve missed you so.
