Say hello to my little friend!
Watching this kid go about her life, that's budding with curiosity and sheer love for the ones she's close to, gave me quite a flashback.
She's curious. Tremendously curious. Every statement of yours will be met with a "how" and "why." It's one of the most beautiful things in kids. Their undying need to know. Their absolute yearn to assimilate and gather.
All of this without a motive beyond fun. Well that's when learning becomes fun. That's when play becomes fun, when you don't play to win. They play to play. And suddenly you find elders introducing them to concepts of winnings and trouncing and coming first in a race. The first point of a loss of innocence. The real motive of participating in life is lost. The real essence of contentment is lost. Achievement starts forming around the constraint of the surrounding. Suddenly you're not an individual complete in itself but one pitted against its contemporaries. And then they go to school and learn. Learning is great but who teaches them why? Why are we pursuing all of this? Who tells them that really everyone is trying to know, but that's a questioning they need to keep asking themselves as they grow.
I look at her and I see so much promise. So much freedom. I wish most children get a childhood that can taste what she does. I hope at the same time, that we can go back to being little Zohras. Curious and doing stuff to do it. Not putting others down. Not proving a point beyond achieving the highest versions of ourselves.
I pray when she's my age. And beyond, She retains that spark in her eye. "Why has this guy interrupted my kitchen game and started clicking himself? Be in the moment lad. Start clicking. Oh wait, that's me!" #niece #zohra #kids #love #beautiful #writeup #writer #writing #words #wordporn #children #curiosity #love #life #buds #intrigue #innocence #dream #aspire #literature #philosophy #ideas #inspire #child #zkd
