Easy Sunday mornings 😉 Homemade congee with all the fixins: sesame oil, shallots, green onions, cilantro, radishes, chili paste, slightly burnt cashews, boiled eggies, fresh cracked szechuan peppercorns for that delightful tingle... Still not totally sure if there's actually any rice under there 🙃
Growing up, I struggled to eat Bitter Melon, a vegetable I have only come to appreciate as I got older. Today, my Bitter Melon has been stuffed with scrambled Tofu and Mushroom, lightly seared in a pan with a dash of oil, then stewed in a clay pot with a dark, rich Soybean sauce and Black Pepper until the sauce thickens and the Bitter Melon turns deep brown. Over a bed of fluffy yellow wheat noodles, garnished with sliced Leek, Perino Cherry Tomatoes and Green Chilli. There's certainly nothing bitter about this experience.
