The founder of Fashion Forward in the 6ix Thai as many people know her, was incredibly humble, she could be seen in the background making sure everything ran smoothly, and everyone was happy. She could be found serving her guests food and interacting with them about the event and their love for fashion. She was just a down to earth woman with a tremendous idea and a hard working dedicated team behind her. She founded this event to provide a platform because she saw a need for it in the industry; she wanted to provide a platform for up and coming designers from Toronto who may not ever get the lime light because of our wack Canadian monopoly business economic system. I was so happy to be at such an amazingly organized and put together event and know that black women worked together on this fantastic event for the city. Fashion Forward in the 6ix breaks all stereotypes about women and black women at that. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau put out a mandate to develop the Canadian fashion and art industry, and as per usual in Canada, the same group of people are reaping the benefits of this initiative. But Fashion Forward in the 6ix as an independently funded event is representing Toronto in the fashion industry better than I have seen any grassroots company accomplish in a long time.
The fashion show was fascinating; there were five designers featured at Fashion Forward in the 6ix. The designers that were featured at this event in no particular order: S.B.L by Stephanie Yiu, Chatille Eaton, Slayed By Ten, Public Affair and Maa Collection. Here are some of my favorite pieces from each collection, taken with my phone. #fashion #torontofashion #fashionforwardinthe6ix #fashionforward #designers #style #fashionblogger #blog #blogger #the6ix #artscape #grassroots #stylist #collection #garments #upandcoming #supportlocal #blackgirlmagic #blackexcellence #picoftheday #girlboss #entrepreneur #canada #toronto #teamwork
