Sacred Dawn (Fajr)
Keeping up with my artistic and spiritual practice has been really challenging this past year as I made the decision to enter graduate school in Occupational Therapy. I think many artists know, earning a living is a hustle and some artists choose to make a living within the arts and others choose outside the arts. I chose health care as I enjoy helping others and I wanted something stable, flexible and with lots of opportunity. But learning a new profession takes time and this has unfortunately thrown me off. How do I find time to make my art? How do I make time for God? Sometimes you’re just so tired you just want to escape into Netflix-ville. Something I unfortunately succumb to, way too often. But fortunately, sometimes we also persist and I’m happy today I pushed a little forward. Tomorrow, acrylic gel pour to set it with some shine and it’s done InchAllah. Keep making art, even just a little at a time. I’m using my vacation to make progress. Be kind to yourself as we all have other priorities to juggle.
