No square footage to spare.
In this photo is
my “art studio” which is
basically my dining room table, which lies in my living room,
which is also Sky’s playroom,
oh and my bedroom too.
My bed is behind the dresser
that serves as a semi divider
in the room. My kids share the one bedroom,
in this very small apartment. I don’t mind
sleeping in the living room,
I don’t mind, giving half the space for my child,
to have an outlet for her imagination, I don’t mind, never having privacy. I will, soon enough,
things are starting to look up.
In the meantime my perspective is this:
I have an art space,
my child has her play space,
I have a bed, my kids each have
a bed, we have a tv, we have a couch.
There’s a kitchen and bathroom,
both small but hold enough space for the four of us to move around. We live, in a tiny space,
but we live.
My child is allowed to draw
on the wall and I’ve hung a curtain
for those times that I want to take a photo of a “grown up” space. It’s tiny, cluttered, loud;
it’s mine though,
I appreciate every square inch. ©️C.S.Minor 2018
