My adventures in art-instruction-to-youngsters continued last week at @youresocrafty with the shop's Art Exploration Camp.😊 This time I had the priviledge of leading 6-8 yr olds through a variety of watercolor wash techniques in order to make some special occasion cards. They learned wet on wet, wet on saltwater and wet on plastic wrap, finishing off with talking about the differences they observed in how the paint moved on the paper with each technique and adding simple line drawings to their dried cards based on what they saw in their washes.
And, it was one of the lovelier creative experiences of my life😍 These children were so open to the experience of creative experimentation, so excited with each tiny discovery along the way, and so deeply engaged in make something out of nothing for someone else, I left the shop that afternoon on cloud 9 about the universe💚🌎Please swipe through these photos to see close ups of their work because I find their paintings absolutely precious!➡️I will be sharing more with y'all on the process I taught because working with inexpensive @crayola watercolors was WAY more fun than I ever expected (I absolutely LOVE how my examples for the lesson turned out!), but for right now here is the delightful art of a 6, 7, and two 8 yr olds, definitely four future artists🎨Oh, and You're So Crafty's Art Exploration Camp continues throughout the summer, including August, so sign up your grade schoolers and tweens soon - this week's camp is all full!🤓
