West Java Art and Cultural Centre - competition entry 2017

Silih Asah, Silih Asih, Silih Asuh is West Java’s noble value that highly relevant to creativity. The people of West Java are helping each other, working together, collaborating to achieve harmony in life. Like the ensemble of music, dance movements, gestures and theater mimic that is strung from small elements so as to create a beautiful masterpiece.
.
This collective harmonization are translated into the architectural concept of "Under One Roof" where a roof protects and connects a series of elements, functions, and movements to form a compound arrangement. This new structure generates an inviting building that connects artists, visitors, government, and West Java communities under one roof. Tropical environmental conditions with heavy rainfall and abundance of sunlight are responded with a large roof that capable of providing shade and rain protection in the open area.
.
Along with the cultural sustainability of the past that goes on at this time and for the future, the elements of form that are attached to the people of West Java are transformed to accommodate new functions. Bamboo - the riches of nature that are often composed to produce various structures and tools - represent the infinite creativity of the Sundanese society. Angklung was chosen because in addition to symbolize the above ideas, also became a medium to create new creativity.

You never know in what direction your inspiration will take you.
This "and God created woman," piece had a different design in mind for its transformation then my usual biomorphic abstract figurative. Instead and elevated reclamation revealed itself as a transcendental vision born of light.  A sacred figure to the eyes of the beholder by its trinute nature. Spoken from a satisfied voice from within.
Maybe im reading more into the piece then what's actually there but isn't that one of the beatitudes of art, especially abstract art. It lends itself to free interpretation, opening up to our own personal iconography such that the inspired can be inspiring as well.
In Light Life & Love.
