#tbt to a post from last year which reminds me of why I train and helps me now focus on my rehab process. Hopefully it will help you focus on your goals!
It's easy to go to the gym day in day out, hit some machines, jump on some cardio and do what you think is an effective workout. However unless you're training with purpose ultimately you will never achieve the full results you desire, especially when you have no structure or real focus. For me training with purpose is a must and for the last 10 months my training has been refocused on improving my mobility in the hope of becoming a better golfer. Ironically I've probably been in the most consistent and maintainable shape I feel like I have ever been in. I no longer strive for the elusive goal of perfection but only that of function. But you need to figure out for yourself what specific changes you wish to make (make sure they are realistic) and once you have those in mind you need to determine a method that will bring about those changes. Don't get me wrong, something is always better than nothing, but something won't get you the results you crave.

Finding the basic regular plank too easy?
Why not try a 3 point plank. This means that there will always be 3 contact points with the ground with one extremity in the air. This can be two feet and one arm or two arms and one foot. As shown in the video this version is a favourite of mine. Aim to hold each position for 2 seconds for a total of 30 seconds. If this is easy simply increase your hold time. This variation will make it more difficult for the body to stabilise increasing overall stress on the core, just make sure those hips stay fixed and don't rotate.

Walking trunk rotations - loaded.
The muscles involved in trunk rotation movements are part of the core structure of our bodies. The core is composed of muscles of the back, abs, hips, and pelvic floor, which are responsible for body stabilisation during movement and the maintenance of posture and body alignment. A strong core can improve performance and reduce injury in all aspects of life.
To perform a trunk rotation you need to predominately use the obliques - internal & external.
Trunk rotation drills are examples of functional training based exercises because they tend to mimic movements of common daily activities. These exercises are used to strengthen those "core" muscles. During these exercises, even though the prime movers are the obliques, many other muscles are engaged in order to stabilise the body and keep good form.
This here is an advanced trunk rotation exercise but one I find extremely effective both now for golf and previously when playing rugby. It may take a little time to master the coordination of the movement which is a challenge within itself.
