LETS TALK TIME UNDER TENSION (TUT)!

This type of training refers to how long the muscle is under tension during each rep/set. The amount of time a muscle is under stimulation or tension are key factors in muscle development

Think about doing 10 reps at a normal pace. Typically youโ€™d bring the weight down quickly and explode up for the required 10 reps. Each rep takes roughly 2 seconds (1 second down and 1 second up), an estimated 20 seconds of tension on the muscle during the 10 reps.

When utilizing TUT, each portion of the rep is slowed to increase the amount of time a muscle is under stimulus. In the 10 rep example, you could slow the quick paced negative to 4 seconds instead, with a normal one second positive! So you would have a 5 second total for each rep (4 seconds down and 1 second up) increasing your total time under tension to 50 seconds for 10 reps. Also, not locking out either! Continuous reps without rest.

Should you only do TUT? Hell no. I normally post about TUT because no one likes talking about it! Impressive weight isn't used, its slow and "boring" to watch! Most people just wanna see explosive power lifting style movements with impressive weights. TUT should play a huge role in your training routine! But all other techniques like drop sets, compound sets, super sets, explosive reps, low reps, high reps,etc. should still be utilized! Especially quicker explosive reps!

I had to stop doing pull-ups for a long time because they messed with my throwing arm & would pull it out of it's socket. Workout finished. I HAD to get to the gym tonight. In all honesty, the traveling I've been doing for work has me slacking. However, tonight I got off the plane, went home, changed, and hit the gym. Some days you just have to get in the gym (or even at home) & do something! Starting in October, for 9-weeks I'll be extra committed to bulking (no lies!) & eating a pescatarian diet + super clean (cheat days will be cake on a few birthdays and some candy for Halloween)

December-April will be lots of running... training for a 10k and shredding for the Summah!
My tip tonight... HAVE A PLAN! That's where I've personally been messing up lately ๐Ÿ˜Š
