Modern Classic: A. Lange Söhne 1815 Flyback Chronograph ref. 401.031 (1st series) Arguably, the greatest straight chronograph manufactured in recent years. Produced in a very limited run from 2004-2008. This variation with rose gold case and black dial/silver subdials(blued register hands) is the most uncommon and in my personal opinion by far the most appealing. It retains a timeless, classic, traditional aesthetic. The dial with pulsations scale has 4 stepped layers and a beautiful depth difficult to capture in a photo. Case measures 39mm and wears with a bit more ease than a Datograph without the tall protruding caseback. Inside sits the Lange Caliber L951.0. The level of finishing and architecture of this in house chronograph movement is unmatched by any other manufacture within the sub 100k (perhaps more) price point. In true German fashion, function first, no detail is missed. The feel of time-setting, winding, engagement of Chrono pushers is just perfect. Even the sound of this watch running is music to the ears.
