We foraged today. My daughter instinctively knowing she wanted to pick these (we’ve never picked spruce tips before...#mommalovesplants #sodoessheapparently). .
Super source of vitamin C (so super they require a cape), rich in minerals, and the oil is wonderfully antimicrobial. .
After eating one raw - floral citrus and sweet to start, finishing with a sour note, I’ve decided it’s not my first salad-addition pick. Perhaps sautéed. I don’t think I’ll be making a balm or salve. So...freeze them and use them for a winter tea?

Basil, a well-known herb belonging to the mint family is commonly used to flavor many delicious dishes. Basil is not only flavorful, but has three amazing benefits to our health.
1. Antioxidants found in basil keep chromosomes from becoming altered aoften resulting in cell mutations and cancerous cell growth. Oxidative stress occurs inside the body due to the effects of toxins in the diet, environmental pollution and radiation — but antioxidants like the kind found in basil help fight oxidation and protects from disease.
2. Clinical studies have shown that basil contains phytochemicals, which can help prevent cancer, including chemical-induced skin, liver, oral and lung cancers.
3. Basil is also considered an antidepressant since it can positively impact brain function within the adrenal cortex. It stimulates neurotransmitters that regulate the hormones, which make us happier.

Slice up some watermelon cubes or make a watermelon pizza for the kiddos as a quick healthy snack. By it being low in calories and virtually fat free, it makes a great weight-loss food for Vegans & Vegetarians.

The easiest & freshest Mediterranean salad recipe 🌊: 🔺 1/2 red bell pepper
🔺 1 diced cucumber
🔺 1/4 diced onion
🔺 feta cheese crumbles
🔺 splash of balsamic vinegar
🔺 splash of @kasandrinos cold pressed olive oil
🔺 fresh rosemary
🔺 sea salt & pepper to taste

But for all those still enjoying the cooler winter weather, we’re sharing our delicious and functional hot cocoa recipe that is packed in flavonoids and low in calories: * 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
* Unsweetened almond/coconut milk (for a creamier, higher fat option, use canned coconut milk)
* 1 tsp sea salt
* 1 tsp cinnamon
* 1/2 drop liquid stevia

Heat in pot on low heat, stirring continuously until steaming. Serve.
