PLAY THE BALL!! Don't let the ball play YOU!
This is something that has been drilled into my head for so long but I still always thing about get in front of the ball and set up. Sometimes it's better to take that one step in to create a short hop than it is to set up and be ok to be caught in a "in betweener"
That dangerous hop that happens between a short hop and a long hop.
The short hop allows you to smother the ball. You glove is so close to where the ball bounces it's goes right in.
The long hop is so far back that it gives you a chance to react to the ball of it isn't a true hop.
It's that in betweener that will eat you up. It could go left, right, stay down, or pop up and doesn't give you much time to react to where the ball goes.
The difference can be one step in. CREATE a short hop.
I'm 10, and this has been drilled in to my head for years and I'm just starting to know what this really means.
Hope it helps some of the younger guys like me.
