Tales from The Edge of Insomnia:
My brain was whirling and I was unable to sleep last night.
I was up late in the studio trying to figure out how to turn digital code into poetry for a new oil painting.
Finally well after 3am my mind decides to give me a break and I fall into a deep sleep.
This morning my alarm buzzes loudly. I roll over eyes closed to shut it off planning to get up.
As I turn I see another version of myself holding a gun pointed straight at me.
Gun wielding Annika says in a forceful voice "don't you dare. Back to bed missy." So I obey, hit snooze and promptly I start dreaming that I found two adorable puppies.
The next time the alarm goes off another version of Annika is there on the other side of the bed. She leans over me and says "be careful, she's angry in the morning and she's got a gun." Listening to the advice, I approach cautiously and quickly hit snooze again.
The third time I wake up I am late (of course). No time for gun wielding visions or cautionary tales from various versions of myself. I bolt out of bed and rush to get dressed.
Heart racing I awake, ready to start another day in New York.
