Director: Alex Garland
Director of Photography: Rob Hardy
The story is about Lena, a biologist who 'accidently' signs up a secret mission and enter a weird area called The Shimmer.
Alex Garland for me is one of the best sci-fi director and writer working today. His directorial debut, Ex Machina is still interesting to talk about until this day. With Annihilation, Garland just make it more clear to me that he really is one of the best.
Annihilation is a type of film that cinephile will talks for hours because of their different interpretations, because the idea of the shimmer in Annihilation is just dark, scary, and yet so beautiful. The plot is a slow burn, but as soon as you know more about The Shimmer like the characters did you will invest more to the story.
The production design was freaking amazing. The creatures, the environment, even the 'victim' of the shimmer are like we never seen before on a screen.
Natalie Portman and Oscar Isaac delivers a good performances as a person who just witnessed a strange things that we never think ever.
You know, it's just great. It's a shame that the studio never released it on a big screen and went straight to Netflix because of the ridiculous reason. Annihilation is the best film of 2018 so far.
