3 Important Aspects of Rabbit Bonding 🐰💘🐰 1. You are asking your bun to make a life-time commitment: Forever is a long time – whether you're bun or human.
When you bond a rabbit you're bonding them so they'll have a life long commitment with one another. You're encouraging them to build a friendship, & do the bunny equivalent of saying “I do!”. Don't expect your bunnies to fall in love over night. It’s unrealistic & selfish to expect this from them.
When you set expectations for your rabbits & how long you want them to take to bond, you are setting them up for failure. It can take time, dedication, & a LOT of hard work.
2. You are NOT a part of the equation.
You, as the bonder, are not a piece of the puzzle. You are what guides the rabbits so they can learn to trust each other. Putting yourself into the equation not only makes the bonding process difficult for the rabbits – but more difficult for you as well.
If your rabbits are fighting & need to be separated, distract them with loud noises. THEY are making the decision to stop fighting with the other bun. THEY are making the decision to put down their aggressive stance to see what's going on. When they are scared, don't interject & console. Allow your rabbit to seek comfort from the other bun. The key to bonding is letting your rabbits build their relationship USING your guidance not based on your physical presence or actions.
3. Rabbits are rabbits.
Their language is not the same as ours & the way your rabbit interacts with you will almost always be different from the way they interact with another bun. It's essential to learn & grow the bonding process by analyzing your rabbits behaviors & using that to figure out which bonding processes work best for your pair/group.
Your rabbit WILL NOT interact with another bun the way he interacts with you. Go into the bonding process with a clear mind & NO expectations. Give them the time, space, & commitment they need to build a relationship based on their personalities with one another – not the personality they exhibit in their relationship with you. ➡️thebunnychick.com⬅️
