Meet the Crew Mondays begins with our Education Manager and Animal keeper, Carrie. Carrie is a Delaware native graduating from Smyrna High. She has a Bachelor of Science in Captive Wildlife Care and Education from Unity College in Maine. She was recognized at the White House in 2011 and received the Take Pride in America National Youth Volunteer Award for her dedication to the environment through the development of countless conservation projects. Carrie is a third generation Lifetime member of the Girl Scouts and is a Venture Scout with the Boy Scouts of America. Scouting has taken her around the world to teach people about conservation and natural disasters. Before joining us at Barn Hill, Carrie worked with Delaware Fish and Widlife, Delaware State Parks, and a variety of zoos and wildlife centers. Over the years, she has cared for tigers, sloths, owls, gorillas, and many other animals. In her spare time, Carrie works with Special Olympics and is a disability advocate. She continues to enhance Barn Hill’s education programs, making them more adaptable for all ability levels. Carrie's passion for conservation education continues to inspire children in schools across the country.
