"Oh it's been a long time I left my home but it never left me.
I'm still deep down a Javanese woman who's always smiling.
But people get jealous and unkind.
They took behind my back to put me down.
Well I really don't know what has gotten into their minds.
Might be something I have that they want.
So have the freedom to be who I am.
There is no prison in my heart and my mind.
I don't ever want to be like the bird. that's been born in that cage and think out is an outrage.
Can't talk to people like that.
The bullets always fall flat at my fit with the sound of defeat" - @anggun_cipta Oceans from the new album 8
I still can't believe that I've met her, greeted by her, hugged her, had a chat, and took a photo with her. Haters and people who misunderstood keep saying that mbak Anggun changed her nationality because she doesn't love her country anymore. But she has proven all of us that no matter what she will always be a graceful Indonesia lady, a polite and nice Javanese woman, even tho she has been living in Europe for more than two decades.
Nationality is not enough for us just to proof that we are Indonesian. What matter most is our contribution to our country. What we've done for our country. Mbak Anggun still talk like how she always did, she still got her Javanese accent, and she only talk to her daughter Kirana with Bahasa Indonesia, while the reality here a lot Indonesians are ashamed of who they are, what they have, their accent, their identity, and their skin. She keep being her autenthic self which inspired all of us to be proud of what we are and where we came from.
