Sometimes you are reminded that you have to do everything for them because prevention is the best medicine, we should have done this much sooner but i only saw him drag his hiney today, and another symptom was that past few weeks he has been extra interested in eating grass.
I did give him worm medicine but we shall see if thats an issue but i doubt it.
Basically every owner has to be cognisant that most dogs rear end glands dont empty efficiently due to inadequate dietary needs, i feel that dogs eating raw wouldnt have this issue as hard poop should help empty the gland, thats the original design of the gland.
But gross part aside if done regularly lets say every 3 months the gland will contain liquid so watch for spray of this nasty smelly puke inducing substance, but in Aarons case it turned into a solid paste and that was probably what gave him discomfort. Its good to be reminded once in a while about, if its too gross to learn to do it yourself then vet will do it for you if you ask them to check their glands next time you bring your pupper to the vet. Its a quality of life improvement as swollen glands can cause various of other health issues like allergies. He was extra happy after this.
Not all dogs need this done to, but majority would benefit from it. I cut out most of the me trying to puke for your watching benefit, enjoy your food.
