#AMRAP 👙👙 Style burpee pop ups 1 minute go.....

Nice long AMRAP to start my day. It's nice to actually have gym time as I'm appreciably weaker in muscle strength due to so much racing. Cardio is strong however.

30mins AMRAP:
-800m run (hilly)
-20x sledgehammer 10#
-5x hurcules hoist 53#
-200m 100# double sandbag carry
-1min deadhang
-20x pushups
=2 rounds + 800m + 5x hammers completed, unbroken

You may not believe this, but the toughest part of this workout for me is going from the double sandbag carry to the dead hang. Something about that go go go into just stopping & hanging with your hands above your head is fucking brutal. It's hard to recover & slow the HR.

🚨 AVOID PUSHING THE HIPS THROUGH DURING SQUATS! [lower back pain] 🚨

Many fitness professionals recommend squeezing your glutes at the end of a squat and pushing the hips through to finish the exercise.

While using the glutes to finish your squat is crucial, hyper extending the hips and lower back by pushing the hips through will cause unnecessary force on the joints of the lower back and pelvis. Pushing the hips forward will change the weight distribution and decrease overall stability of the squat.

To properly engage the glutes and promote a vertical bar pathway, follow these steps below!
1️⃣ Corkscrew the legs into the ground (imagine spreading the floor to the side and back)
2️⃣ Have majority of the weight distributed on the front of the heel (places pelvis in correct position)
3️⃣ Drop your torso in between your hips by sitting downwards, not backwards!

Remember that a squat is not a deadlift and forcefully extending the hips forward to "lockout" your squat can cause unwanted pressure in the lower back. Instead of pushing the hips forward, focus on keeping the glutes contracted at the top of the squat by corkscrewing the legs into the ground for extra stability and even weight distribution throughout the body.

Wasn't feeling my back session & gave up after 20mins. Joined in with @first_choice_fitness #Hiit class & smashed it
5 #amrap workouts that had everything including box jumps, burpees, skirerg, squats, deadlifts, assault bike, kb swings, DB snatches, renegade rows and sooo much more
ended with 10-1 reps of burpees, squats, pressups & crunches 😳😳 so glad I jumped in now, amazing class & great calorie burn 💪😊 .
