Many people ask us, "What's #Amla?". Short explanation - it’s a berry that’s dramatically more important in #Ayurveda and Indian culture than Turmeric Curcumin. For the longer version, read on.
We wanted to make a holistic drink that complemented our mind-and-body goals, and not just another Turmeric Curcumin water/elixir/what-have-you (and there are a lot of those!). Amla/Amalaki/Indian Gooseberry is arguably the most important plant in Ayurveda, featuring prominently in many Ayurvedic and Unani treatments. Its dried-and-candied and “murabba” (in syrup) versions have been used for centuries in South and Central Asia. The tannins in Amla are the remarkable part of the berry, and the Amla in Béla Harmony is standardized to contain 40% tannins.
Every bottle of Béla Harmony has 50 mg of Amla, whose health benefits we can’t talk about because Béla is not a supplement that can make health claims and sport a “FDA has not…” disclaimer. We’ll save the debate over Supplement Facts with disclaimers vs. Nutrition Facts for a later day!
Béla Harmony is designed to complement and support holistic mind-and-body goals, with no sugar, calories, caffienne or protein (we already get a lot of that!) to distract from the herbs, spices and minerals. We strongly believe that consumers can and should research what they consume, and if we do the right thing by our consumers, the business will work itself out.
