Wait for it... the video is a little long. I decided not to edit it because the first 35 seconds give you an excellent idea of what it’s like to chase doods in East Tennessee. Here, Hyde is on point, and I’m walking in with Chester behind me. Chester can tell I’m walking into a point if he sees me and will generally back down and ease along behind me. If you watch carefully you can see two birds flush from the point. I was done for the day so no shots fired. - - Woodcock hunting in the snow in East Tennessee in the first week of December is something special. I had been bear hunting Saturday morning and was running late for a Mud Creek Dove Club afternoon hunt. I had a feeling the doods were in town and couldn’t resist putting the dogs on the ground. I was sure glad I made that decision. Bagged my birds in under 30 minutes, which gave me time to get some great videos and pics of my boys working. - - #woodcockhunting#americanwoodcock#americanwoodcocksociety#ruffedgrousesociety#rgs#germanshorthairedpointer#germanshorthairedpointersofinstagram#tennessee#chesterandhyde#timberdoodle#mudbat#doodle#dood
SKB 300- rare- almost impossible to find. 20g 28” Skt/Skt (opened from mod/full) another notch in the SKB arsenal. Imported by matsui for SKB in 80&81 in field and skeet grade. Judging by the comb... this was skeet. Poly coated stock and fore end. Killer
Did a little prospecting today at a new spot I haven't checked out yet. Found a Woodcock carcass in some tall grass. Hype to know they are in the area! Can't wait till I bag my first one. As for today, only thing I bagged was two bags full of old shells, a torn up old foam seat and some empty water bottles!
Go to @ruffedgrousesociety and hit the link in their profile. $5 is what? A coffee and donut on the way to the woods? Consider buying a Ruff a coffee and donut this AM. We're the only friends these birds have, particularly us hardwoods dwellers. $5 puts a crabapple or two in the ground , enough saw mix to drop a dozen trees or more, you get the gist. The decal is pretty sharp too, mad props to @upland_lowlife and his conservation contributions. Share their post, let's get the momentum rolling for 2018.
