Poppy paused at this spot long enough for me to realize that at this particular place, I have had so many varying experiences through several years hiking past it, it could warrant a short(-ish) story alone.
From the sunsets that rule from this vista to the black lab that was reported on Craigslist seven years ago running scared on I-80 directly above (and soon after rescued along the waters further up at Sutter's Landing and named Hank), to the beautiful, soft house-bunny someone let go at this spot that was chased by the dogs and ultimately died in my arms, to the countless soaring jump shots of Lu to the right of this frame, to the varying encounters with homeless who consider this a choice bathing spot, to me swimming out in its waters last November to pry the deceased deer from Hank who'd drowned it out in the middle of the river under this bridge-- because I knew he'd never give up his prey and would drown out there too.
Oh there's even more stories and hundreds of images from this very spot.
For now I quietly let young Poppy take it in along with the geese that love to gather nearby.
Let the adventures continue, I told her, as if there is any other option.
