I have finally finished @authordanbrown Origin.

Just like any book written by the very talented Dan Brown this does not let you down. Compared to his previous books there is not as much globe trotting but the concentration on the development of the characters and the plot is never ending. From picking up the book to putting it down you cannot catch your breath on this never ending thrill ride. Tackling the age old ‘creationism Vs evolutionists’ is not an easy topic but Dan Brown does it with tact and forcefulness at the same time. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ rating from me xx

The Foucault pendulum at the Panthéon in Paris, France (48.8462° N, 2.3464° E). The Foucault pendulum is a simple device named after French physicist Léon Foucault and conceived as an experiment to demonstrate the Earth's rotation. The pendulum was introduced in 1851 and was the first experiment to give simple, direct evidence of the earth's rotation. The first public exhibition of a Foucault pendulum took place in February 1851 in the Meridian of the Paris Observatory. A few weeks later, Foucault made his most famous pendulum when he suspended a 28-kg brass-coated lead bob with a 67-m-long wire from the dome of the Panthéon, Paris. The plane of the pendulum's swing rotated clockwise approximately 11.3° per hour, making a full circle in approximately 31.8 hours.

Waiting for Sunrise by William Boyd: Boyd's sophisticated whodunnit is strong on atmosphere and period detail. Moving from Vienna to London’s west end, the battlefields of France and hotel rooms in Geneva, Waiting for Sunrise is a feverish and mesmerising journey into the human psyche, a beautifully observed portrait of wartime Europe, a plot-twisting thriller and a literary tour de force. #books #bookstagram #bookblog #williamboyd #ambravidal #bookblog #bookblogger #bookstagrammer #luterature #whattoread #thriller #bookreview #bookaddict #flatlay

Visiting the St. Ursen Kathedrale in Solothurn, Switzerland. The surrounding city, just like the cathedral itself, is one of the finest examples of neoclassical, baroque architecture I have ever seen. #ambravidal #travel #travelgram #bookstagram #danbrown #solothurn #switzerland #bookblogger #travelblogger #sightseeing #atlasobscura #potterhead #architecture #baroque #neoclassical

Good morning everyone! I’m braving the cold Scottish weather today! #QOTD - How are you spending the weekend? #ambravidal

Reading Captive by Gabrielle Estres made me fall in love with Dracula all over again - not with the vampire, but with the story of the vengeful Wallachian prince who was the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s Dracula and which Estres brings to life in a masterfully written tale. It was the incredible mix of YA fantasy, dark romance and just the right amount of historical fact to make this story so enticing. For that reason I searched for other great #Dracula stories and one that is definitely wirth reading is The Historian by Elisabeth Kostova. The plot drew me in immediately and I couldn’t put the book down until I had finished. If your pulse flutters at the thought of castle ruins and descents into crypts by moonlight, you will savor every creepy page of Kostova's long but beautifully structured thriller. Reading this book - if you haven’t done so already - is really worth your time! #ambravidal

I‘m off to Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 and the weather forecast is just 18 degrees Celsius, so packing some „warm“ clothes at the moment. || Where are you guys spending summer? || #ambravidal

My family has lived in the same house for over two centuries and the book on the right is a find from the attic... 😌 #ambravidal

Captive by Gabrielle Estres made it into my must read list for 2018 after its sensational online success. After receiving the French ARC copy I also got my hands on the pre-release abringend paperback that has been sent to all the Wattpad readers last week. I picked up the book with some scepticism, quite simply because it was initially published online - but what I found was not a book full of tired cliches, but an absolute masterpiece. It is a brilliantly written tale with a masterful storyline - a book I would recommend to absolutely everyone. |
Summary | "An unapologetic and haunting tale of power, vengeance, betrayal and the eternal quality of love." Faced with an insurmountable enemy and betrayed by those he once trusted, Vlad III, Prince of Wallachia and Duke of Amlas and Fagaras, will stop at nothing to defend his throne and his country against the superior Ottoman might.

Determined to destroy Sultan Mehmed, the man who was once his closest friend and who now threatens to destroy his people, the Prince willingly descends into the realms of hell, giving up his very soul in return for victory and revenge.

Tempted by power and blinded by his burning need for vengeance, the Prince devices a diabolical plan which will have devastating consequences for both the innocent and the guilty.
But when this terrible, merciless tyrant sets eyes on the innocent girl he has chosen as the unwitting instrument of his vengeance, he will finally learn what it means to love. Torn between power, vengeance and love, he will drag her into his world, driven to possess her heart and soul.

Arthur & George by Julian Barnes || In this masterpiece, Barnes explores the grand tapestry of late-Victorian Britain to create an intriguing and engrossing story about two boys - Arthur & George. As boys, George, the son of a Midlands vicar, and Arthur, living in shabby genteel Edinburgh, find themselves in a vast and complex world at the heart of the British Empire. Years later—one struggling with his identity in a world hostile to his ancestry, the other creating the world’s most famous detective while in love with a woman who is not his wife–their fates become inextricably connected. A masterpiece I recommend everyone to read! #ambravidal #julianbarnes
