Marston’s Pedigree, 4.5%. Amber with little head. Malty aroma. Some malt in the taste, with little bitterness, and rather watery; no “Burton snatch”.
I used to love cask Pedigree, but don’t often see it now. The bottled version keeps suffering marketing changes, from “premium English ale” to “pale ale. Matured in oak casks” and now just “amber ale”. Alcohol content has gone from 4.5% to 5 and back again. At least it is now bottle conditioned, which bucks the recent trend.
Tasted 8 months after the BB date, and rather underwhelming. Perhaps, at this relatively low strength, it is better fresh. Worth trying again, particularly at its low price from Asda and Lidl. 3/5.
