I hope you've all had a wonderful Bank Holiday weekend, whatever you've been up to! If you've read my newsletter this week, you'll know that I've just got back from an amazing little holiday - and celebrating my birthday - in the beautiful woodlands of East Sussex.
It's been so healing to escape the big smoke for the quiet calm of the countryside; sunset and sunrise gently guiding our days. The views over the valley where we stayed took my breath away each morning as I sat, listening to the woodpecker and watching the sun and the mist rise up and away. It was the perfect 'Up Breathing Visualisation'. 'Up Breathing' is one of two types of breathing you will learn on my Hypnobirthing course. It's the breath you will use during the first stage, or 'Up' stage of your labour. It's also the breath used during practice. It's called 'Up Breathing,' because that's exactly what the muscles of your amazing uterus are doing during a surge/contraction: they are drawing up. The breath is very simple, but incredibly effective and is supported by 'Up Breathing Visualisations.' We want the mind to be thinking 'up' so that the mind and body are working together. It's an incredibly powerful combination!
