This photo is blurry with salt water but I'm posting it anyways because when Aron snapped it, I was SO happy and having SO much fun. I hadn't attempted to surf in yeeeeears..the last time I was in the waves with a surfboard was probably during a week long surf camp in San Diego during one of my young teenage summers. I always wanted to be a surfer girl. I was a natural beach blonde and saved all my babysitting money to buy Roxy everything. I dreamed of going to college in Hawaii and my second real job was at an actual surf shop on the pier in Pacific Beach. My first car was my grandparents old farm station wagon that my uncle took to Tijuana to give it a new (& cheap) paint job. It was the most uncool ride and my best friend @chelsea_kelly appropriately named her Big Bertha. I slapped on some hibiscus flowers & Roxy stickers and desperately wanted to permanently bolt a surfboard to the top in attempts to up its cool factor. I drove that car into my early college years until the steering wheel fell off. Literally. I was driving a moving Bertha when the steering wheel decided to become unattached to the car and remain in my young little freaking out hands. That's when I bid adieu to Big Bertha, took out a student loan, and bought a mustang. Because YOLO said my 21 year old self. Being out in the ocean here with the surfboard brought back all my teenage dreams of being a sassy blonde cool surfer chick from "Blue Crush". In reality, I was more of a laughing belly riding knee boarder who continuously lost all balance sending the board wildly into the air. And I loved it. It's not often you find yourself in Sri Lanka's surf capital and YOLO says my now 29 year old self. I had a killer fun time out there and looking at this blurry picture makes me smile. And it also makes me think unless I become one, I'll forever dream of being a surfer girl.
