"Help stop it Stromwell, all your power and money has bought you is an empire of misery. It has to stop Stromwell, it has to stop now." Today's BTAS episode is from season 1, the 12th to be produced but 6th to air titled "Its Never Too Late" This episode shows us Arnold Stromwell, an aging crime boss at war with Rupert Thorne for Gothams underground. The war is amplified due to Stromwell's son missing. Stromwell, of course, believes this to be the work of Thorne as a taunt to him, so he takes a meeting with him. On the way to this meeting Stromwell passes a rail road train station and we see a flashback that shows him stealing as a youth with a friend, Michael. Michael seems very responsible and gets onto "Arnie" for his theft letting him know it will catch up to him, but Stromwell was too proud even back then. Young Stromwell plays on the tracks and his shoe gets caught as a trains coming and..then we go back to present-day. Stromwell has a talk with Thorne but he hasnt seen his kid, Thorne flees leaving Stromwell in the restaurant with a bomb, but he's saved by Batman. Batman has sympathy for him, and takes him to his son who is at a drug rehab center. This gets Arnold furious saying he'll kill whoever got him hooked. His ex-wife replies, "Look in the mirror" The flashback memory of his train encounter, almost being blown up, seeing his son in a rehab hospital with his ex wife pointing out his drugs and lifestyle were responsible send Stromwell out of the room devastated. Batman then gives the quote above to Arnold, basically letting him know it's not too late to fix things. Stromwell however doesnt listen and back stabs Batman while looking for records to give to the GCPD. Rupert Thorne shows up and Batman has to subdue him and his men which he does. Stromwell we see has ran and he's st the train station and we see the rest of the flashback. He went from one track to the next, narrowly escaping once, but the train comes around a bend and is heading right for him when his friend Michael pushes him out of the way sacrificing himself for his friend. Definitely another powerful episode despite no big rogues or crazy action, to find out the rest, you must watch.
