Tonight I spent time working on my weaknesses. Squats and shoulder strength. Squats have always scared me. The weight felt heavy, and I feared I would get crushed under it or be unable to get up. In my current job as a trainer I have learned a lot about the importance of squats and their technique. So I have begun a 10 week program to increase my squat. This was my 6th and final set of 3 @ 215lbs. In case you can't tell, that's heavy for me right now.
Shoulders. I have mostly neglected them unless they're helping me pull up or dip. I want that pad beneath my head to be gone. Head all the way to the floor, and back up. For 5 reps.
The point is: it's one thing to notice our weaknesses. It's another thing to do nothing to improve upon them - in our daily lives or in the gym. I need to follow this just as much as any of you. And I hate being humbled. But the Lord knows I need it.
