Let's Talk About Freedom... There is freedom in the word YES...Especially when you use it to push through your greatest fears.
For me, saying YES to talking about living with Alopecia has been the biggest act of YES in my life so far. Choosing to speak about such a private space has been terrifying and in the same breath it has offered me an indescribable peace.
The most beautiful side effect of sharing this journey has been that it's moved me beyond my feelings and allowed me to see what Alopecia has meant to those closest to me.
For the past 28 yrs they've been holding my biggest "secret" as well.
See, sometimes you're not aware of the pain someone is carrying for you...what hurt of yours they've taken on as their own.
The freedom that has been gifted to my family and friends and even strangers from my transparency fills my heart to the brim with love and gratefulness.
To my family, especially my Mom, Dad, and Twin
I stand tall today because there were so many days you guys protected me, held me up, and filled me up with love. There is no better team to be a part of. Thank you won't ever suffice.
To friends, some of +20 years, who never once asked me why I wore a wig but just loved me...Thank you for your compassion and patience.
And to anyone who from my sharing has thought twice about talking about your "thing" (because we all have something, right?) your pain, or your triumph. You can do it! And it can be AWESOME!
Your YES to freedom can be the reason someone else experiences theirs.
How amazing is that?
Kind Heart. Fierce Mind. Brave Spirit.
