Very first/basic (and far from finished) mock up of my new cue. This beautiful cue is being custom designed across the globe by Toru Hayakawa.
It was not easy to get it done because the cuemaker is from Japan and doesn't speak a word of English, so all transactions were done through a mutual player friend of mine and his who was nice enough to translate. But it doesn't matter what language barrier there is...a beautiful cue that hits well and is well made speaks for itself.
There have been so few cues that I have come across over my career that I even find barely satisfactory, so with me being so picky, it's incredibly rare for me to find something I like, which is why I've stuck to the same cue since I was 17 years old.
I met this guy in NY at the WPS and fell in love with his cues and said he could make another one in my go-to colors. Black and Candy Apple Red (not exactly easy to translate lol)...but the mockup came out amazing. I can't even imagine what it's going to look like when it's finished and polished/glazed and gorgeous. It's my colors and simple...and I'm absolutely in love. Hopefully, I'll have this baby in about year.
After playing with my Jacoby for 15 years...it's time to move on. I know some people never thought I would part ways with my Jacoby, but the time has come. Time for a change and to try new things.
This is the first time I've ever gotten to design my own cue, so I'm crazy excited over it.
