#justwitchythings 🌙 I was awoken by headaches and someone mowing our lawn. I got out to bed to quickly pick some yarrow before it was all killed. Our front lawn grows some amazing things, but it is often all destroyed without consideration. The common yarrow is a new one. One of my friends studies local plants and their edible and medicinal purposes, and I was delighted to learn than common yarrow is a plant used for healing cuts. The flowers stop the bleeding, and contain something that aides with healing and clotting. Apparently it can also be eaten to aide with internal bleeding, and the plant is even a "smart bleeder" so if your blood needs to thin it will do that. Basically plants are just really freaking cool. I did some quick reading, and yarrow's magickal purposes include exorcising negativity from someone, being used as a tea to promote psychic powers, and can be used in love spells. I'm excited to learn more about my local plants and their folk remedy uses as well as their magickal uses. I like the idea of being able to eventually go out into the wilderness and gather plants. Of course, to do so should always be done intelligently and respectfully. Not something to just dive into, but something to work towards.
