Day breaks and Jason and his guide Shayne are already watching several heard's of Pronghorn Antelope move across miles of open prairie. It is opening day of hunting season and Jason has patiently waited 14 years for this day. Tensions are high.

I was so fortunate to check one off my bucket list today. After 12 years of applying I hooked up with A couple of friends from Trust the land outfitters and headed south. Going into the hunt I wanted a really pretty clean goat to put on the wall. We looked at a lot of goats, some that would have outscored the goat we harvested, but decided to set up on this particular animal the morning of the opener. At 4:30 am we set up the last place we saw him the night before. About 40 min before legal light we could make out animals in the field but couldn’t tell what they were. Prior to legal light there was heavy traffic and animals were being moved around. Emotions were a little low at daybreak as the heard we were after was 2 miles into the grassland with other hunters on the other side and much closer than we were. As luck would have it those hunters pushed the animals in a giant circle bringing this buck right back within rifle range. The click of the safety roar of the rifle and pronounced smack of the impact will be forever engrained in my brain. To top it all off we were lucky enough to be joined by Photographer Josh Knutson who captured some amazing photographs of the entire morning. Stay tuned. #trustthelandoutfitters#blackramguide#clarkadventures69#albertahunting#antelopehunting#hunting#speedgoat#happycamper#tfaoutdoors#@fastnewt
