Installing some Composite decking today on an acreage build.
A lot of people ask me why it takes so long to install this product VS treated or cedar plank. The answer is simple:
For starters we use the Moisture Shield deck clip system however by my own personal preference I change it up a bit. I don't believe in the ballistic nail screw system. I know many of you do and that's fine. I believe a screw is a screw and meant to be driven in with an impact or a drill. Not a drive pin. Again, personal preference.
Another reason is I don't really like the 3/16" to 1/4" gap that the deck clips give so it's an added step for me to tap the prongs back on every clip, every joist.
In the end it takes a lot of time but I believe the product comes out more consistent, stronger and will let years to come. And you'll never see screws through the face of boards that are roughly $5 per foot.
Feel free to give me your thoughts.
