Started slabbing up this 400+ year old Yew tree today and we found it had swallowed some fence wire some 20+ years ago. The bluing in the wood is where it had grown on around the wire, and the lovely purple/pink colouring is probably from it having grown in soil with a high iron content.
SWIPE ➡️➡️➡️ Well fields are planted which means i have time for this finally. Hard maple from the fence line. Only could load logs small enough to handle by myself. Really nice character in these slabs. The 10' logs are still at the farm!
