Farewell, my #Ghana -
Land of many colours,
land of many noises,
Land of many tastes and oh,
the smells -
the salt of the sea and the smoke of the garbage fires, spices and sweat and the aroma of roasted ground nuts over the village -
and many others I would rather not guess.
I was burnt by your tropical sun and I dreamed under your stars in the Northern Region,
I shouted in your churches and I prayed in your trotros.
I swallowed your fufu and I marveled at your mighty baobab.
I laughed a lot.
I cried a lot.
As my son said: it is very beautiful and very sad.
I saw the beauty of the Creator in your people -
Graceful and shrewd, pious and resilient, beautiful and streetwise,
always in a timezone of their own,
knocked down six times and rising up seven -
And my heart was strangely warmed.
I have to leave you now,
but as we say in Ghana when we leave the room:
I am coming.
By the Grace of God.
