shoe of the day:
AM1 white powerwall (2005)
let's start this post with a very bad joke by pointing out that these shoes are probably the most racist ones ever released, since they're only a "wall" away from being "white power"...they could easily be the KKKs shoe of choice, but considering how rare these are, there probably aren't even enough pairs out there to supply all these backwards thinking retards anyways, so tough shit for them! i guess they just gotta keep wearing whatever they have been wearing traditionally. probably shoes made out of pure hate and evil thoughts?! anyways, i digressed again. where were we? oh yeah, white powerwalls. these are just super duper gorgeous and i can not imagine a more perfect white shoe! crazy details stamped into the quarter, that fancy heel tag, the fancy grey midsole, that soft mesh. i just really fucking love these! clean as a freshly bathed baby.
record of the day:
mike & sally oldfield - pekka pohjola (happy bird - 1981)
if you read this going "pekka pohjola? what sort of strange album title is that?", you're forgiven. it IS indeed pretty strange. explaination: pekka pohjola is actually a finnish composer, piano player and bassist and was also the main driving force behind this amazing record. he composed and arranged the whole thing, and he did a pretty damn decent job too! i really like this record. it has this typical northern european/scandinavian feel to it. sounds mad clean, recording wise, and musically it's simply breathtaking at times. sure, there's the occasional "let's drift off into meaningless territory" moment here as well, but a solid 80% of this LP is just amazing jazz-fusion! there are at least 3 songs on here that make you wonder what a 2010 alchemist would have done with them. especially the loop in the last song, yo..first time i heard it, i almost made a backflip, but I can't, so i just cried instead. pure insanity. honestly. also, shout-out to the cover-artwork as well, for proving to all these 17 yr old hyper pretentious hipster idiots that the concept of triangles in a design is actually not THAT groundbreaking.
standout song: "false start"
