#TBT back to 1990, when dressing head to toe in “Flight” gear was my thing. Also... had to tuck that shirt in! Had I known that @jeffpeart had started Team Tuck It In back in the day, I would have definitely asked to join. Jeff and I had a conversation the other day about how important it was/is to be mentally ready when you step on court and a big part of that was what you wore and how you wore it. Not just the shoes either. In my playing days I had to wear the right shirt, right shorts, roll my socks just right, get that wristband just right on my forearm and, of course, tuck that shirt in, just like MJ. Every time I stepped on the court, that’s what I wanted to do to feel ready. That conversation reminded me that I even had to to all that for this dunk exhibition I did. I told the story behind these photos a couple of years ago, but my dad was running a summer camp for kids and asked if I would come in and do a short dunk exhibition for them. His idea was to show them "Come Fly With Me" then have me do some of the dunks MJ did in the video. What my dad neglected to tell me was, 1. The hoop was right up against a wall, making it a little more difficult and 2. The hoop was about 10.5'-11' high, making it a lot more difficult. Fortunately I had, as the kids say, "mad hops" back in the day and was still able to pull it off. Seen here are my red/white Air Flight lows (Air Flight '89 to you youngsters lol), Flight socks (rolled just right), Flight shorts and Jordan "Flight" shirt (tucked in)... and my Air Jordan "wings" logo wristband in just the right spot on my forearm. So, even though I was just doing a dunk exhibition for a bunch of kids, I had to get my ‘fit just right to feel that extra boost of confidence. I need that boost too, if I was going to do those dunks in a 10.5-11” rim!! Shoutout once again to Jeff of @thejeffpeartshow for reminding of the importance of the mindset! #OGSupportGroup #TeamTuckItIn.
