I admit - I like to post "Insta-welds" that are all pretty and stuff, but I have a strong point here. This is a straight out of the box weld with no lense and no fancy cup stainless pass using the AHP Alpha-TIG 200X. Some argue it can't be done nicely with this machine. I'm here to confirm it can. Even threw in a stop/start right in the middle.

Here’s one of my awesome bodybuilders, @benlaitheasianguy, demonstrating the offset elevation barbell back squat. Before I begin talking about this specific protocol and exercise I wanted to give a big shoutout and huge congrats to Ben for crushing his OCB physique show last weekend and placing top 5 in a very stacked and competitive class. Ben is one of the hardest working clients I’ve ever worked with and also incredibly bright in the field of exercise science and kinesiology. Very excited to see what the future holds for him.

This particular exercise is one of many we used with Ben to build muscle mass and to perfect his movement mechanics. And the offset elevation back squat is one of the single most effective variations I've found for cleaning up squat form.
As most of you know, I’m a huge fan of offset training for a number of reasons. Not only does it require greater motor control and body awareness but it also places incredible intramuscular tension on the targeted muscles. While the most common versions of offset training typically involve loading different weights on each side of the body, implementing an offset elevation by positioning one foot or hand on a several inch platform provides several additional benefits. Performing dips using the double barbell fat grip protocol provides several benefits.

1. One of the most common problems lifters run into when performing dips is a sharp digging sensation into the palm of their hands where the dip bars essentially hit a nerve making it very painful to perform the movement. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve talked to intermediate and advanced lifters alike who have run into this issue. Fortunately this protocol eliminates the issue altogether as the lifter is gripping the barbell collars which act as fat grips. As a result there’s little if any pressure to the palm of the hands.

2. Finding a parallel dip bar station that provides a variety of grip widths to fit different size lifters is easier said than done. This is a topic Lee Boyce has discussed over the years demonstrating the effectiveness of using barbells to create a makeshift dip station. Using two barbells allows the lifter to modify and adjust the bars to fit any grip width the lifter chooses. In addition, a wider grip tends to recruit more outer chest fibers and shoulders whereas a closer grip tends to target the inner chest and triceps a bit more.

3. This is a deceptively unstable dip variation that at first glance appears relatively stable and simple until you attempt it. In fact I nearly found out the hard way on one of my recent sets as I used a bit too much momentum towards the end of one of my final weighted sets and the bars nearly slipped out to the sides. With that said this is one of the most effective dip variations for eliminating excessive momentum, shifting, and kipping, as it literally forces the lifter to use smooth and controlled mechanics. As a result, it places enormous tension on the chest, shoulders, and triceps.

It becomes difficult to snap out of it but it is possible.

This means great food, and good times with friends and family. But how do I eat well AND enjoy all the amazing food, without going overboard ?? 🧐

The answer will be different for everyone, but, the bottom line is...don’t get too caught up in trying to be perfect. The Christmas season is a time for fun and enjoyment. So if you accidentally eat that little bit too much, it will be okay, Santa will still come. 😋

My ✌🏼 things that I like to do that help me to enjoy my food, but not get too carried away (which I am very good at doing):

⚫️I am someone that needs to try everything on the table, so I tend to grab just a little bit of everything ! This helps me only go back for seconds if I am actually still hungry.
⚫️Put my fork down after every mouthful and enjoy the company I am in, get involved in the conversation. This means my body has time to tell me when I a full...otherwise I wolf down my food to fast for my body to even know I’m eating !

Yeah, I know this seems like trap bar variation #734, but as always I’ll try to provide a rational explanation for why this latest trap bar insanity is so effective and useful. With that said, if you’re looking for one of the most low back-friendly variations for performing squats, deadlift, and bent over rows, while also allowing heavy overload, look no further than this hanging trap bar method. Simply flip the trap bar on its side, elevate yourself on two small boxes or benches placed to the sides of the bar, hook a standard v-grip T-bar attachment on the center of the bar, then perform deadlifts, squats, bent over rows, and RDL’s. The v grip attachment idea was my awesome client @lpetchlee1
HANGING TRAP DEADLIFTS AND SQUATS

There are several reasons why performing deadlift and squats with the hanging trap bar protocol are so effective.

1. When performing hanging trap bar variations of deadlifts and squats, the load is placed much closer to the center of mass, making it exponentially easier on the spine. This movement actually feels quite similar to both a hanging kettlebell squat or a belt squat; however, the key difference is that the hanging trap bar variation allows exceptionally heavy loads to be used while the other variations do not.

2. The hanging trap bar protocol improves squat and deadlift. Essentially, the variations using the hanging trap bar method are almost identical. The main difference is that, for the deadlift, the lifter places the load back to the floor each rep (i.e. dead stop method) as I show in the first part of the video. In contrast, during the squat variation-demonstrated by the awesome @benlaitheasianguy-the lifter maintains constant tension throughout, never allowing the load...
