Hello Friends and Family,
Call for a fundraiser. This time, my son Tommy is raising money for Malawi Education Initiative to build a new primary teacher training facility in the Zomba district of Malawi.
To raise awareness and money for the initiative, Tommy has chosen a challenge of climbing the highest point of Wales, Mount Snowdon. This trip will be three days long and two overnights. I will be Tommy’s support team member.
Day 1, Friday 24 August: Tommy will arrive in London at 7 am, and we will start our four hours train trip to Bangor; Then we will take a bus to Pen-y-Pass. The remainder of the day will be used for acclimatisation purpose. By the end of the day, we will start walking on Miner’s track and set a small camp by the Llyn Llydaw and stay overnight there.
Day 2, Saturday 25 August: The challenge day! (Hopefully, it will not rain that day). After breakfast, we will start our slow ascent and gain speed as we get warmer. By lunchtime, we plan to be on the top of Mount Snowdon and will have lunch and a photo session there. We will then start our descent, and will be back to Pen-y-Pass before it gets dark. We can either take the bus to Bangor the same day or camp another night in the mountains.
Day 3, Sunday 26 August: We will keep this day as a reserve for any unforeseen circumstances. If we feel that we lack proper acclimatisation on Saturday, then we will use this day for the accent. If we climb the mountain on Saturday, then we will use this day for relaxing. Will take the train from Bangor to Milton-Keynes at around 4 pm. Sarah will meet us in Milton Keynes and give us a ride home.
Please follow us, donate to this cause and support Tommy in his challenge. We will post updates in the JustGiving profile as well as in facebook and instagram. We appreciate you efforts for sharing this link.
