This year's SARA finalists
Elmia Lantbruk, big agricultural expo held in Sweden, is held this coming weekend in Jönköping. VikingGenetics is a proud sponsor of the SARA-class competition. The SARA-class is a competition where the cows are judged based on not just good conformation but also the functional traits too.
The cows qualifying are in or past their 4th lactation, have maintained great udder health all their lives, have shorter calving interval than the breed average, their production must be 10% higher than breed average and have a good conformation. To put in short – these are the dream cows of every dairy farmer.
The prize was awarded for the first time in 2003 and the purpose of the SARA-class is to reward breeding for health and reward cows that contribute to the profitability of the farmer.
