I've been back into the obsession of exploring for non-technical scenic canyons. The whole process from start to finish always creates rich experiences. Step 1: Study satellite imagery on google earth.
Step 2: Map either a 4x4, hike or dirt bike (staying on impacted areas or dry washes) approach on the Gaia app (amazing app!!) Step 3: Have an adventure with good friends getting to the destination.
Step 4: Lose your breath over the beauty of the natural world, and be grateful to live in an area that holds some of the highest caliber of creation, mixed with the great amount of freedom we get here in Utah to explore and enjoy public lands.
Step 5: Take some photos
This exploration was so much fun!!! This canyon is pretty far out there, way off the beaten path with no signs of human visitation. We did see a mountain lion print close the size of my hand however. We went out on our dirt bikes riding through lots of deep sand which I'm typically bad at and ben excels in. Today was different.. something changed and we got to train the trail and wash smashing corners in 4th and 5th gear. It was like a day of good powder skiing with buddy's. Lots of "woohoos" just exploding out of our mouths during the ultra groovy sections. Then into slow rocky gnarly terrain where we crashed and laughed frequently.
Man I love this place. Never leaving! Never!
I have a good handful of other slots mapped out that I'll try and get to before surgery on my leg on may 10. Hopefully I'll have some photos to share.
