When I was 20 years old I went to Europe for the first time. I went alone but I was part of a travel organization for college-aged kids from around the world. This experience opened my eyes and my heart to travel. I went two more times the following years and discovered other places. Places that have left an indelible mark on my heart and on my soul.(Tuscany , I’m talking to you). But then...life happened. I graduated college, I got married and had kids. My boys were asthmatic when they were young and I was a neurotic mom. I didn’t want to travel far with them. I wanted to stay in the safety of home...and Disney World. So the only countries I visited as I raised my babies were the fake countries in Epcot Center. Not the same. I didn’t go back to Europe until about 5 years ago. Now I have this fervent need to get it all in - to walk around the cobbled streets, run up stairs to see an ancient cathedral and swim in the Mediterranean while I still have my youth. So listen to me: the world is alive and inviting us to experience it. If you’re young, I know what you think, that you still have so much time. But guess what? You will blink your eyes and that time will have raced by you and you will wonder why you didn’t do the things you wanted to do. If you’re not so young, I’m sure you understand what I’m saying here. So make a list - a bucket list- and don’t put things off. Whatever it is, travel, learning a new language, getting in shape, changing your job, hell, changing your spouse. Life is passing, faster every day. What are you waiting for? Tell me I’m the comments what have you been putting off? And tag someone who needs to hear this.
