MOST RECENT

“EUROCENTRISM, IS A SPECIFICALLY MODERN phenomena, the roots of which only go back to the Renaissance, a phenomenon that did not flourish until the 19th Century.’ • Where preciously, warfare was the construct that built the prior parameters for European and cultural domination, now the pen, utilized in the new fields of psychology, Egyptology, history and anthropology, would be used to indoctrinate the world with this more refined concept of racial superiority thereby making ‘the pen mightier than the sword.’ • By the 19th Century the African slave trade was beginning to wane, so it became imperative to have a social construct in place to ensure the preservation of the White race as it prepared for another encounter with a despised dark-skinnned people. That construct became Eurocentrism. Apartheid appeared in Africa, and systematic and institutionalized segregation occurred in Europe and all of the Americas.”

This is a complete English translation of the famous Ethiopian work The Kebra Nagast – “The Glory of the Kings of Ethiopia.” Compiled by a Coptic priest in the 6th century AD, from much older material, The Kebra Nagast is a remarkable mixture of legends and traditions, some historical and some of a mythic quality, derived from the Old Testament and the later Rabbinic writings and from Egyptian (both pagan and Christian), Arabian and #Ethiopian sources. The principle theme of the work is the descent of the Kings of Ethiopia from the union of Solomon, King of Israel, and the #QueenofSheba. Woven through the story are many important narratives, including prophecies in the Old Testament that concern the Messiah as applied to Jesus Christ, the history

Things Fall Apart tells two intertwining stories, both centering on Okonkwo, a “strong man” of an Ibo village in #Nigeria. The first, a powerful fable of the immemorial conflict between the individual and society, traces Okonkwo’s fall from grace with the tribal world. The second, as modern as the first is ancient, concerns the clash of cultures and the destruction of Okonkwo’s world with the arrival of aggressive European missionaries. These perfectly harmonized twin dramas are informed by an awareness capable of encompassing at once the life of nature, human history, and the mysterious compulsions of the soul.

Regrann from #afrikanlibrary - Handbook of African Medicinal Plants:⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Price:$5.00
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
With over 50,000 distinct species in sub-Saharan Africa alone, the African continent is endowed with an enormous wealth of plant resources. While more than 25 percent of known species have been used for several centuries in traditional African medicine for the prevention and treatment of diseases, Africa remains a minor player in the global natural products market largely due to lack of practical information. This updated and expanded second edition of the Handbook of African Medicinal Plants provides a comprehensive review of more than 2,000 species of plants employed in indigenous African medicine, with full-color photographs and references from over 1,100 publications.

The first part of the book contains a catalog of the plants used as ingredients for the preparation of traditional remedies, including their medicinal uses and the parts of the plant used. This is followed by a pharmacognostical profile of 170 of the major herbs, with a brief description of the diagnostic features of the leaves, flowers, and fruits and monographs with botanical names, common names, synonyms, African names, habitat and distribution, ethnomedicinal uses, chemical constituents, and reported pharmacological activity. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Instant⠀Download⠀@⠀http://www.afrikanlibrary.net/product/handbook-of-african-medicinal-plants/⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀#blackhistory#blackchildren#blackschools#blackleaders#blackrolemodels#thefuture#selftaught#knowledgeofself#blackfamily#blackculture#blackbusiness#blackunity#blackcommunity#blackeconomics#melanin#melanatedpeople#alkebulan#blackmen#blackfathers#blackwomen#garveyite#panafrikan

Regrann from #afrikanlibrary - When people are complaining about who wrote Black Panther I’m just like.... lol.

Jokes aside (and TP aside...) the bigger picture I always saw was that for a while now black film makers, directors, scriptwriters etc. have been waking up and now having seen how easily US as the majority, the central protagonist, the storyline etc is a worldwide phenomenon and seller. Everybody wants to see US, the most emulated people...I mean look at US! Who wouldn’t. It’s been long enough - the repetition of Slave movies, the gangster/hood movies, and shows that have started flowing in...the list goes on - basically pushing everything accept for our liberation. And it is time to change the narrative. We are a global people with beautiful histories and cultures and stories that need to be shared to better understand each other. FILM has the ability to do this on a grand scale. So while all the critics (sometimes) have made somewhat valid points their anger is misguided and their outlook is that of a pessimists (to be honest those people will always find something to be angry about). The weakest argument I’ve heard by far is “it’s fiction” 😂 like when has that ever been a problem, when has that ever meant that people cannot/do not/will not take anything from something...acting like all throughout childhood all you watched was documentaries, give it a rest. So yeah, I’m looking forward to some amazing stuff in the world of black media and most importantly movies financed by us and in the motherland particularly as when that happens the country it’s filmed in gets paid, locals, local businesses, the economy etc. Let’s not forget Afrika actually is resource rich and extremely tech proficient - a place such as Wakanda is very possible.

Regrann from #afrikanlibrary - My favourite part of the Black Panther movie was what T’Challa did at the end....
Make sure (especially those who are big mad about the movie but aren’t necessarily doing anything physically to address the problems they have linked the film to) you support those doing that same thing wherever possible.

Los Angeles, California rapper Nipsey Hussle and his Too Big To Fail initiative is focused on bringing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) programs to inner-city and underserved areas.

Nipsey has teamed up with business partner Dave Gross, a real estate developer and entrepreneur who also hails from inner-city LA to develop the program.

Nipsey and Gross will start their program in Los Angeles, but want to expand across the country to Washington DC, Atlanta, and Baltimore.

The “Too Big To Fail” moniker comes from financial terminology used to describe our biggest banking institutions, but Nipsey and co. are taking that phrase into the inner-city.

Birth of the Sun 🌞... Dec21-Dec23

Winter solstice is acknowledged for being the shortest day as the hours of daylight are at their least. The symbolic and literal rebirth of the Sun begins a new cycle which was celebrated and known as the Season of Emergence in ancient Egypt, a time when annual floods along the Nile river brought forth new life and abundance.
December is the time of year when Sirius (aka the Dog Star), the brightest Star constellation in the sky, is visible from every part of the Earth.

The Sirius star constellation, or Heavenly Father, is synonymous with the Kamitic God, Asr (Osiris). Asr (Osiris) represents Life, Death, Fertility, and Resurrection.

We thank Aten/Atum for shedding light and making life possible. Most of our calendars and method of time keeping are based on the sun. Major holidays are celebrations of the solar equinox or solstice, i.e. Christmas and Easter. Even astrology is related to your sun sign. Needless to say our entire lives revolve around the 🌅. #AfricanStudies #SUNdaySchool #Krst #ChristTheSon #SUNdays #BlackMatters #Kmt #Africa #AfuRaKa #BlackHistory #AfrikanConscious  #AfrikanConsciousness #BlackPower #UnapologeticallyAfrican #BlackNationalism #AfrikanLibrary #Garveyite #PanAfrican #Abibifahodie #Htp #EarlyMorningMeditation #Christmas #JesusTheSon #MerryXmas #WinterSolstice
