Don Jazzy, AKA Michael Collins Ajereh, like some artists started playing music as a child in church before moving ahead to pursue a music career. However unlike many artists, he's been in the industry for a long while and still at the top of the game. Don Jazzy is a multi-award winning artist. He runs a successful record label, MAVIN RECORDS which is home to stars like Dr. SID, Tiwa Savage, Korede Bello, Reekado Banks, DNA.
Like most break-through stories, he has had to work really hard to earn the respect he enjoys today in the industry. He says, “I worked as a security guard in the UK, and after a while I realized I could make some money playing the bass guitar. A friend of mine helped me and took me with their band to play at restaurants and different venues. The band got popular that I could make £500 per gig.”
This steered him to music production. Two years later, he decided to move back to Nigeria to make Afrobeats and start a music label. It was upward movement from then on.
Asides music, he launched FLOBYT (@Flobytconnect), a company that provides free Wi-Fi in Nigeria. He says, “With Flobyt we make money from advertising because the people watch like a 10-second video before logging on.” Don Jazzy was born in Umuahia to parents, who hail from Isuikwuato L.G.A in Abia state. His family moved to Ajegunle city in Lagos state where he was raised. He graduated from Federal Government College Lagos before getting enrolled into the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State to study Business Management.
