WHERE'S YOUR HEART?
News went agog yesterday that the NFF president had convinced Chelsea stalwart on loan to Swansea Tammy Abraham to opt for Nigeria rather than England his place of birth. I had my reservations. Not because Oghenetega A.K.A Tammy Abraham was not lethal but because I have always frowned at how our administrators and journalists alike flirt with players in diaspora just because they have a Nigerian back ground. Truth be told, Tammy proved to me last season while on loan to Bristol city that he was a diamond waiting to be polished. In the same vein, make no mistake. There are several young budding talents without opportunity to be on the limelight far far better than him or I dare say with potentials that will dwarf him. If we are lacking in his area of specialization in the Eagles, I probably would look at the opportunity of snatching him but not in this case. We can not continue like this. The English media went for the jugular after they heard of the move by our football federation and convinced him to pledge his allegiance for England. He predictably made a U-turn and doused that excitement on Nigerians. Tammy, we wish you good luck with the 3 Lions whom you would definitely get a few caps except you are exceptional. We have seen many like this before. Gabriel Agbonlahor and John Fashanu are case studies. One more advice to our administrators and journalists.... For every one Tammy in the UK, there are thousands in the streets of Lagos, Benin, Jos, Enugu, Owerri,Warri,Kaduna et al. For me, am happy. We wish you all the best Mr Abraham. #3lions #supereagles #afconwinner #thenff #roadtorussia #russia2018 #chelseafc #nigerianfootball #swanseafc #Caf #fifa #tammyabraham
