Lots of people to thank for helping me get to and through this crazy fun weekend. I'll start with this girl though! Little sister, thank you for being my very own personal makeup artist yesterday (and on several other occasions). For spending literally the whole entire day by my side and helping me with anything I needed after waking up at five and spending two hours doing my hair and makeup. You did a perfect job. The Open has been a lot of things... fun, challenging, frustrating, rewarding, etc. 6 weeks ago I could NOT do doubleunders to save my life and it cost me at a competition. I was just gonna feel bad about myself and chalk it up to another thing I can't do. Then, @kimtrupp gave me a really great rope and told me she knew I could do them and to practice EVERYday. So I did. And today I did 350 doubleunders and cried when I finished. It was hard, I wasn't the fastest. I didn't even know if I could finish at one point. But I am damn proud of myself. Persistence, hard work, believing in yourself, and really great friends and coaches make the difference. I freakin LOVE my gym.

I went all out the first two rounds to get a good tie break time, since I've never done a MU on my own and after I figured out how to "kick the head off a dragon" πŸ˜‚ and with the help of a little adrenaline I miraculously busted out 5!! Finally hit 95# snatch (body weight 115#)πŸŽ‰ we've been getting a lot of oly work in our programming lately and I've been getting the practice I've needed. Next month I'll be competing in the #65roses Crossfit competition again to raise money for the #cysticfibrosisfoundation and it seems as though there are handstand walks!! It was less than a year ago that squatting with an empty barbell over my head made me feel like I was going to break. I had never done it and I lacked the stability, strength and mobility to do the move. Little by little I've added weight and have only even tried 87 lbs once and that was yesterday. Today I told myself I would get a 1 rep max of at least 100 because my jerk max is 130 lbs . I kept pushing and hit a body weight overhead squat at 115 lbs. πŸŽ‰ I told myself once I faced my fear of having that heavy weight over me like that... that I would finally make some progress with my snatches and I'm determined to get strong in this position. I told myself I would get this and I fought hard to make it happen . .

Back to the gym after a sinus infection hiatus. 1rm snatch=110 1rm clean and jerk=145. Still not breathing great but those are good numbers for a 30 year old. 😜 and tiff... well she is just the best friend and most kick ass lifter! Grateful for her and my gym pals. @explorecuisine 's black bean pasta with light alfredo and Parmesan was πŸ‘ŒπŸ½. Such a macro friendly version of pasta with 25g of protein in one serving before adding any toppings... plus, look how fun that is! I am a fan of simple, but I don't do boring. πŸ˜‰

Anyone else think it's crazy how when we're in prep we don't realize how lean we really are? It takes looking back to realize it sometimes. I remember feeling so awesome with how I looked and felt right before peak week but even then thinking I needed to be leaner! My body fat was so low that I was constantly COLD. Looking back at those pics I'm like seriously? 😲 I was tiny. I also remember feeling like I was "wasting away" lol . What a weird feeling.

My preferred look is my look on the right . Still lean but full and strong and not eating bare minimum (eating a lotπŸ˜‹). I think realizing that after my second show , that stage lean or close to was not for me..... it made coming out of my third show much less traumatic on my brain and body to gain weight. I did not struggle with "body dysmorphia" following my recent preps. And that is a huge deal to me. The struggle during and after prepping for a show is no joke and I hope that those that go through it will talk about it and not keep quiet because it's way too normal of a thing to deal with disordered eating and body dysmorphia following it.

Because PR Face is so attractive 😜 1 rep max deadlift test today . Previous weight tested 237 ... today I hit 245 lbs (body weight 116) πŸŽ‰. I think I may have been able to hit a little higher but I spent a lot of time building and today my body was feeling sluggish so I'll take it. πŸ’ͺ

The next time you ask a woman why she wants to be muscular please also ask:
Why do you want to be strong(er)?
Why do you want to have more endurance?
Why do you want to be healthier?
Why do you want to be able to lift and carry your own damn stuff?
And why would you want to work hard to have pride in the only thing you truly have... your body?

Rarely is a woman's (or man's) only reason for building muscle that they want to have a muscular appearance.
A well built physique is just the beautiful prize that comes with all of that hard work.

Not many woman could have a masculine appearance from lifting weights, so when I think of why anyone would not want a woman to be muscular I can only think of one thing.
Muscles show strength and strength is intimidating. People don't like to be intimidated.

Just over a week left! @martindamachine and I still grinding. #250kchallenge

Prep. Balance. Sometimes it is hard to have both when in reality you are pushing yourself to such an extreme, but I am striving for balance in my life. Doing the things that make me happy, and making changes. Following a macro based plan has helped keep me sane. I feel like I am able to satisfy cravings without completely sabotaging myself. And when or if I need to buckle down and need more structure, I always have the option to switch to a meal plan.

Last week I shared my 20 rep back squat at 130 and today I was able to increase another 10 pounds and hit 140 for 20 reps. (Since I'm asked- I'm 5'1" , 116 lbs) .

After this I thought: "It's crazy that we can be under that kind of pressure and not break." πŸ™Œ

Then naturally my mind went deep and I thought about life , at times you may be under pressure that makes you feel like you're going to break... but you don't . You push through and become stronger .
